As a graduate from Emporia State, I am a big fan of the William Allen White Book Award. So, during the summer, I challenge my students to read as many of the books on this year's list as possible. They best part of this award is that the winner is voted on by kids! There is a 3-5 grade list and a 6-8 grade list. They can choose whichever list they want to conquer. Or, for an extra challenge, they can see if they can read through both lists. The public library will have all these books available, so long as they are not already check out. To get the list or to read more information about this award, please visit this link https://www.emporia.edu/libsv/wawbookaward/downloads.html. You can also get a bookmark with the titles on it by clicking on "Summer Reading List" found under documents on my page.
